Q: Why don’t I get up early and work out even though I want to?

 

 

 

A: There are two things at play: Mindset + Habits.

I could tell you practical tips, like:

  • Prepare clothes the night before
  • Make sure your alarm is on the other side of the room
  • Meal prep + plan ahead

These will help for the short term, but you’re only layering more habits on top of old, engrained routines. You’re doing more, more, more and trying to will-power your way through deeply rooted subconscious routines.

The way to make a permanent change is to simultaneously break the neural pathways that are subconsciously driving your micro decisions… the ones that created the habits you currently have.
